At Lakeview Recovery Community, we understand the importance of a supportive and structured admissions process.
Our aim is to ensure a smooth transition into our recovery community. Whether you are seeking help for yourself or referring someone, we strive to provide a seamless experience from the first contact to admission.
To be eligible for admission to Lakeview Recovery Community, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Age: Must be 18 years or older.
Gender: This is a male-only program.
Residency: Must be a resident of Alberta.
Costs: The program, lodging, and food is all covered by the Government of Alberta. Additional costs may include canteen items, medication purchases, clothing purchases (some donations are available).
To begin the admissions process, the applicant must call our Admissions Department for a phone-based assessment, which typically takes around 20 minutes. During this call, we gather the necessary intake information and determine basic eligibility for admission.
The applicant must be present and able to speak on the call. Supporters or referrers are welcome to join to provide assistance, but we cannot complete the assessment without directly speaking with the applicant.
Once the assessment is complete, our team reviews the application in detail to confirm eligibility, understand recovery goals, and ensure alignment with Lakeview’s treatment offerings. This review helps us prepare a personalized admissions pathway and flags any follow-up that may be needed before coaching can begin.
Approved applicants begin working with a virtual recovery coach through Bowline Health. This is a confidential and no-cost service that supports each applicant through weekly coaching sessions while they prepare for admission.
Recovery coaching is a required part of the Lakeview intake process. Coaches help applicants build motivation for change, explore personal recovery goals, and navigate the early stages of decision-making. Applicants who do not attend coaching sessions may be removed from the waitlist.
Exceptions to this requirement are considered for individuals who are incarcerated, currently participating in other treatment programs, or unable to access a phone or internet connection. For those who are incarcerated, coaching is expected to begin post-release prior to admission into the Lakeview Recovery Community.
When a bed becomes available, our Admissions Team will reach out to the applicant directly to plan transportation and coordinate a smooth and timely transition into the Lakeview Recovery Community.
The timeline to admission can vary significantly depending on the number of individuals currently on the waitlist. Due to frequent fluctuations in availability, we do not provide far-out bed dates or guaranteed timelines in advance.
